Shipping to us

It is important to package well and use
a trusted shipping service.

Packing practice.

When shipping lenses, the best practice might be to wrap each lens in bubble wrap and place it in a padded Pelican case or similar container.

Then, place that case in a padded cardboard box and affix “fragile” labels on all sides.

Use UPS, FedEx, DHL, or a similar shipping service.

If you are shipping from outside the EU or Schengen, various rules apply that you must clear. See below.

All shipping is clients responsibility.

Shipping to MOHR Lens Service

We know that shipping your lenses can feel a bit intimidating, but at MOHR Lens Service, we’re here to make the process as smooth and straightforward as possible. Below, we’ll guide you through each step to ensure your lenses arrive safely, avoiding any customs issues along the way.

Step One: Packaging

The first step is to ensure your lenses are packed securely. A sturdy box with good internal cushioning, such as bubble wrap or foam, will help protect your lenses during transit. Make sure there’s no room for the lenses to move around inside.

I’ve never shipped before, what paperwork do I need?

If you are shipping from outside the EU (including Schengen countries), you will need a shipping invoice to accompany your lenses. This invoice helps customs and MOHR Lens Service know who owns the package and what is inside.

Your shipping invoice should include the following details:

•Sender / Exporter Address (Your address)

•Receiver / Importer Address (MOHR Lens Service)

•Description of the Goods

•Value

•Reason for Export

•Dimensions

•Weight

•Incoterm

•Commodity Code

•EORI Number (for non-EU shipments)

•EIN Number (for shipments from the USA)

Details for the Shipping Invoice

Description of the Goods

Use descriptions like “Lenses for Film Cameras” or “Film Lenses for Camera Equipment.” This ensures customs understands exactly what is being shipped, minimizing delays.

Value

Make sure to accurately declare the value of your lenses. Undervaluing could lead to issues if the lenses are lost or damaged, as the courier will only cover the declared value. For instance, if your lens is worth €5,000.00 but you declare it at €250.00, the courier will only compensate for €250.00. The actual coverage also depends on the insurance you select when shipping.

Reason for Export

Since we’re offering a repair service, it’s best to indicate “Repair and Return” as the reason for export. This classification can help with smooth customs handling and reduce the risk of import duties when the lenses are returned to you.

Dimensions

Please include the dimensions of your box or case:

•Length x Width x Height (LxWxH) – in either inches or centimeters.

•Weight: Provide the total weight of the package, in either pounds or kilograms.

Incoterm

Incoterms clarify the trade responsibilities between the sender and receiver. We recommend using DAP (Delivered at Place) terms.

What are DAP Terms?

DAP (Delivered at Place) means that you, as the sender, are responsible for getting the goods to our location in Stockholm safely, including arranging insurance. MOHR Lens Service, as the recipient, is responsible for duties and taxes. On the paperwork, it should look like this:

“DAP – Stockholm – As per Incoterms 2020.”

Commodity Code

Commodity codes help customs identify products. The recommended code for camera lenses is 9002110090. However, please double-check with your local customs office, as the specific code can sometimes vary based on bilateral trade agreements.

EORI Number (for shipments from outside the EU)

If you’re shipping from outside the EU, you need an EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) number. This number is mandatory for customs clearance in the European Union. If you don’t already have an EORI number, you can apply for it through your country’s customs authority.

EIN Number (for shipments from the USA)

For shipments from the United States, you need an EIN (Employer Identification Number). This unique identifier is used by the IRS to track shipments. The number is formatted as XX-XXXXXXX. You can easily apply for an EIN directly through the IRS, which typically issues it immediately.

Additional Information for Smooth Customs Clearance

Temporary Import Procedure: When shipping items for repair from outside the EU, it’s often beneficial to indicate a “Temporary Import Procedure” with customs. This can help avoid import duties as long as the goods are being returned after repair.

Return Instructions: Include a clear note in your package that states “Goods for Repair and Return.” This note can help customs agents understand that the lenses are not a permanent import.

Commercial Invoice Copies: Provide multiple copies of the commercial invoice—usually three. One copy goes to the carrier, one for customs, and one stays inside the package. This helps speed up customs processing.

How will MOHR Lens Service return my lenses?

We can return your lenses through your own courier account or arrange the shipping for you for a fee. When returning internationally, we follow similar procedures to ensure smooth customs clearance and timely delivery.

What will the MOHR Lens Service export paperwork include?

Our return paperwork will include the same information as your original shipping invoice, except for the declared value. As we’re repairing or modifying your goods, we need to declare the value of our service in addition to the lens value. For example, if the declared value of your lens is €3,500.00 and the repair cost is €2,200.00, the total declared value on return will be €5,700.00.
